Watching all the riots over police brutality, including tonight in Baltimore, has got me thinking, is an actual revolution possible in a place like modern America, with its spread out cities/populations, being a place with a VERY large landmass much of which has very little population, and any prospective revolutionaries being dependent on ways of communicating that can easily be severed by the government?

Lots of people thought that the unrest of the 60s would be enough to topple the govt, but it didn't. Then you have the Occupy movement where thousands of people were marching in most cities, and some online were pointing out that in such a situation a relatively small number of people are all that's needed to topple the govt, yet nothing. And now these protests.

If the nation woke up tomorrow to the White House and US Capitol burning and Obama hanging from a noose attached to a makeshift gallows on the National Mall alongside most other national politicians hanging alongside him, would it even matter in a place like California that would be 3000 miles away, much less some of these little towns in the desert? The police in San Francisco would probably still go to work and the army might bottle up the revolutionaries in DC and wipe them out.

To decisively wipe out the system in the US you would need a simultaneous rebellion in every city and town in a very large country and for cops in DC and cops in LA and cops everywhere else to decide to join the rioters, and then for the army to turn their guns on the elite instead of the people. I just don't think it's very likely.

Most successful revolutions since 1989 have been in countries many of which are smaller than a single US COUNTY, San Bernadino County, California. Texas is way larger than the entire populated area of someplace like Libya or Egypt or the rebel provinces in Ukraine. Opinions?

I don't think size matters. Revolutions have occurred in China and Russia.

NO WAY.. NO 'REVOLUTION IN AMERICA';
the average person of school age can
get winded going to the mailbox.

A life spent behind electronic devices and all one can eat pornography and sugar and plenty of
fatty hamburgers at McDonalds produces a culture of jelly fish; who will be lucky if they are not
disabled by age 40; from simply never living in the greater physical intelligence of mind and body
balance.

The only thing that will likely save us
from other countries, eventually, now,
is our influence is producing the same
epigenetic negative changes in 'them';
in just one lifetime, as evidenced
in clinical reports as well.

But all is BETTER;
where war is not the result;
IN whatever potential that comes
in.

There will be small skirmishes in isolated cities; but the overall population
truly is a 'jelly fish', more or less, who will 'crap their pants', if they ever have to IRL
defend anything; and nah, it's much more complicated than owning a gun, per nerves of
steel to really effectively use one, in a state of emergency requiring physical intelligence
of mind and body balance that will NEVER EVER COME ALONE, either in front of an electronic
device, or on the shooting range alone; real emergency stuff and real wars take nerves of combat
ready skills, and from the general public I see, even among active duty military folks; they even are
becoming 'jelly donuts' as well, working out more with their smart phones than iron at the gym where
I consistently out do them in weight by 2 times, most often, at least, if not 3 or 4; I'm ready if it ever happens;
per hand to hand combat; as I don't do guns; and there are no worries for me, as I know it is literally almost
impossible for it to happen;

but nah..
most people have not got a clue in the U.S.,
of what war really means in blood and guts terms
on the REAL SOILS OF LIFE; and not on TV and frigging
Video Games; it ain't no TV and it ain't no Video game,
at ALL.

BUT AGAIN; ironically enough that keeps 'us' safe
from 'FOOLS' who know they can't, when the real flesh
and blood hits the sands of REAL LIFE,
IN ACTION.

And life is kinda easy when 'you are the strong one'
and everyone is weak of their own making;
with genetic potential or not of truly
being strong and fearless and ready
for almost anything in
life. Truly physical
intelligence is
underrated
for all ways of survival;
war, revolution, or not.
What we really need in this country
is a revelation and REVOLUTION OF
much greater physical intelligence;
but alas, the video games, T.V., sugar, fat, and porn
are waiting; 'PATIENTLY', as the hooks with the bait;
and will NOT be led astray for instant gratification;
in what humans are never classically evolved to
do...but will do as a result of easily accessible
and available access through the by-products
of a culture effectively and affectively gone
insane; but again, peaceful for
strong folks like
me; with absolutely
ZERO WORRIES;
A MIGHTY COOL
PLACE OF STRENGTH
TO BE; THANKS at least
in part, to the 'Jelly Fish of Life'...;)

And that is just the pitfalls of human nature;
for which there is no escape or real quick fix;
It takes work to survive; there are no 'free kids
meals' at McDonalds for that..:)

I don't see anything that would cause that in the near future, unless our country is forced to declare bankruptcy.

What's happening right now is based on a niche concern because it's based on a niche set of assumptions and most outside that belief set have very little sympathy for the situation. One political commentator I think summed up something quite succinctly that a lot of people were thinking when he offered "Black lives matter, black murders (of police) apparently don't".

You'll probably have to wait until we offer to sell whole regions of the country off to China or have brown-shirts running around before there's that little left to salvage that a revolution to look tempting to enough people. At that point it would be the opposite of a long-shot, people would absolutely know that it was inevitable.

It would. Particularly if the president happened to be Obama, you'd likely have the tea-partiers and libertarians rounded up and that's regardless of whether tea-partiers or libertarians had anything to do with it.

if they managed to take out all congress, supreme court, and president along with head of militayr and cabinet. then the line of succession would be so muddy. that you might see infighting between people claiming they'll the president.

people behind jericho did a lot of research for the show. in it 26 nukes went off including one in dc during the state of union when all gove was there. what happen after was 9 different governors claiming president. open fighting between them eventually winding down to west vs east. that said besides doing the above it'd be hard to take out all the gov in one go. as long as the line is clear someone would just get control and reorganize.

that said if you had sizeable uprising in a bunch of major cities. we don't have the forces to counter them all at once. something like 300 million population and we have probably about 10 mil troops and police/agents. and if half those arel with the revolution then its even harder. look at natural disasters and how fema failed when a big one hit. all reaction forces can only handle small limited events. so if ever major city in each state rose up. they'd have to go one city at a time and if it keep spreading from the other ones. our military can topple governments beat militarizes that fight traditionally but it can't beat small rag tag rebels. inside our nation it would be worse as the military would be split and facing their own people. we have a government topping force not a occupying force. though look at the soviets history. i don't think any unwilling people can be occupied forever.

don't think we've reached a tipping point yet. if riots get 10 times worse and more violent then start happening all over it might be getting nearer. this riots happen in one city and dies down before it happens in another. so the forces can move around to handle it.

like Israel in their wars. if the arabs had all hit at once on all fronts they'd won. but they hit one at a time allowing Israel to defend, regroup, move and defend against another attack. don't think they can do what they did in boston to every city at the same time. reality is if this nation went into chaos. theres nothing the military or cops could do to stop it. they'll just out numbered. I think we'll find for time being though.

nah that would be a stupid move only causing more unrest. if a fox kills your chickens do you slaughter the pigs, no you hunt the fox.

ie if this happen and instead of getting the people in dc they started rounding up random people nation wide. people would get scared and pissed. plenty of non tea party or libertarians that would take that as the sign of a corrupt and evil government.

Revolutions don't have to be violent, people that set out to fight police and military won't make it very far. Look at the revolutions that have happened around the world, governments have been overthrown by people with much less than we have. There comes a tipping point, will the police and military fire on the American people or will they disobey their orders? There needs to be a mandate given by the people, there just isn't enough people paying attention yet.

It is possible but you'd need relatively extreme conditions. The racial tensions are not such a thing because only a portion of the population has issues with it (just stating the cold hard truth).

The only way I see a 'revolution' happening is when the gap between the wealthy and the not wealthy becomes so big that the majority of the population in general becomes violent or supports the violence.

Exactly whenever anyone says 'revolution' everyone starts talking about guns, bombs, fighting, blowing stuff up, burning stuff....it doesn't have to be like that.

The weapons required, a better idea and a keyboard.

The British did not lose due to lack of military power or gold, they lost because their troops also wanted the American Ideals.

It is hard to fight The Bill of Rights. Not many were against the Magna Charta.

The French Revolution was not against the army and State, it was for freedoms and for limiting the Nobility.

Black people have been excluded from prosperity. Some of them have still made it to the top.

Now white people are being excluded from the middle class.

Right there we have the majority vote.

The 1% and the Fortune 500 do not employ many people. Cream of the crop MBAs, Lawyers, Accountants, but very few compared to overall employment.

Small Business hires the most, and most of the most, those who employ five or less.

To overcome all of our problems, for every ten workers hire one more.

To reach that lofty goal, every teen, retired people, work release, and person on welfare or disability, plus all unemployed, would still fall short of a 10% increase in employment.

Due to the labor shortage, wages need to rise, health care needs to be included, education benefits, double if company sponsored.

This can more than be paid for through reduced Food Stamps, Unemployment, Welfare, and The Criminal Justice System. This does unemploy Public Employees. That puts more educated people into productive jobs.

The future looks like more being done by machines, which is good, because excess labor can do things never before possible.

Our Education System, can become the Health and Education System, where every child gets two Dentist visits and Doctor visits a year. Health training through walking, swimming, sports, for all. Teaching children to prepare high quality meals. Education for Life.

There will still be those that do not fit, young, old, disabled, give them a raise, they will spend it locally. Make them a resource for a service economy.

We have some continued bad habit neighborhoods. Military Service has been the main path out, and becoming a better person. Our Military has a hard time finding fit recruits.

China has a plan to plant 50 billion trees, to improve air and water quality. We need a CCC Program, as we have a lot of Public Land in need of being restored.

Summer camps in nature for the young, leading to CCC employment at fourteen, Prep School Educations in nature, and our eighteen year olds will be the best they can be.

A 1% Transaction Tax on Securities would bring in all sorts of money.

Billionaires should pay more than mere millionaires, those who benefit because of our National Debt should pay it.

Social Security should apply to all personal income.

We are a growing country, we need more and larger National Parks.

In twenty years we can be a healthy and educated population living in an improved and improving nature, clean water and air, new cities, transportation, with full employment, sound money, and worldwide respect.

Please vote the Viva Le Revolution Party Ticket. Thomas Jefferson would.

From what I observe there is much more class division than racial division....for instance on the bus you're more likely to see a black person and a white person both talking about how the system is corrupt and how its a struggle to get by with their crappy wages...than it would be to see people arguing about anything race related, any time I have seen anyone being racist most other people tell them to knock it off or very clearly ignore the behavior and roll their eyes at the ridiculous sight before them regardless of what color they are.
