I have a similar impression to 12-tone music as yours, Britte. However, there is a piece by Alban Berg which sounds very “conventional” and not at all dissonant.

It’s fascinating how divergent theories and methods can sometimes produce similar results.

I’m not a lover of “experimental” music, by the way.

I love experimental electronic music, but, I know it isn't for everyone. Would you be able to post the Alban Berg piece? I would be curious to hear it, if not too much trouble. I hope your day is off to a good start.

I hope this works. This was composed when Berg was about 22 years old. His first “unconventional” piece.

This didn’t work. How does one submit music from YouTube? Sorry.

No apology necessary. : )

Go to YouTube and highlight the link in the address bar, above the video you wish to post >
right-click on the highlighted link >
click 'copy' on the drop-down list >
come here and click on the you tube tab, which is to the very left, above the text box >
you will see an empty, rectangular box appear, above the you tube link and additional links >
paste the you tube address/link that you copied, into the rectangular box >
click on the 'insert' tab, just below the box that you pasted your link into, and the correctly converted link will then, appear inside the text box >
click the green 'submit' tab, as you would, when you create a text post, and voila - you should see your video.

After your initial go at it, it will be like second nature, going forward. It's a lot easier than it might seem. Apologies, if my directions could be clearer. Much success!

edit - I used the YouTube address you posted, to find the music, and it came right up, so, no rush on my account. Although, definitely give it a couple tries, so you can post music with ease, going forward. Thanks so much for posting the piece. I am going to listen, shortly. : )

You’re a genius at giving directions, Britte.

(And I suspect, in at least some other areas as well).

You have a broad range of interests.

You are hilarious. Thank you, kk. I am not a genius, by any stretch.

The Alben Berg piece is physically triggering me. hahah. It is absolutely painful to listen to, however, I truly appreciate you sharing it with me!

I hope you have a most enjoyable day! I am off to work, myself.

It goes to show: you have an acute sensitivity to music, which is indicative of something (positively) special in you.

I don’t have that acute ear.

You are a person of great sensitivity to minute details....hence your architectural facility.

Outright dissonance bothers me—but not repetitive pop rhythms, really.

“Rites of Spring,” by Stravinsky, to me, is an example of “beautiful dissonance.” What made him become so stiff-shirt in his old age?

Have a great day at work!

I sense that Berg’s opera, “Wozzeck,” might be more to your liking.

Actually, I'm pretty sure, Stravinsky was one of a few composers at the time, who implemented the Twelve-tone method, upon it's conception. I could be wrong, though.

Sorry about the derailment, PBL187.
