Donald Trump is running for POTUS and he's making a campaign stop in this state at the fair of all places, and the tickets are free, although scalpers are reselling them.
The fair struggles to break even every year with rotten weather and another fair in Texas taking business from it so Trump is helping it out big time since thousands more are expected to attend the fair, which costs about ten dollars to get in, then usual.

So what do you all think about Trump boosting local economies by appearing at these fairs instead of traditional venues?

Trump's base is the marginalized, uneducated white underclass. They feel that everybody but themselves have advocates and groups looking out for their members, while poor whites are the whipping boys blamed for all that is wrong with America. They feel that Trump understands them. Such people tend to be found among these agricultural fairs rather than online or at staged campaign stops. They wouldn't go out of their way to attend a staged event, and many don't know how to turn on a computer. But they DO attend the fair. So, Trump is going where his fans are.

The problem with pandering to uneducated whites is that they get their news from talk radio/shock radio, and take it all as fact. They feel that gasoline prices are "too high" despite the glut of oil. Mexicans are evil demons who want to conquer America, kill the whites, and create "Aztlan". And so on. A lot of their beliefs are pretty illogical, and most of it comes from talk radio. These radio hosts rake in cash and try to outdo each other in being extreme to get ratings, and their listeners take every word as gospel. The chickens are roosting now.

Some of his fans, sure, but others are the business class and fairs are businesses. This fair is the underdog of fairs so I have to give him props for saying he's going to show up; which I am sure he most likely will, although I choose not to believe until he is actually there, when 99.9% of potentialities wouldn't even consider it for one second.

Well all I have to say is: it's not the first time a flim-flam man has shown up at a fair.

Trump is a socialist.

He wants:
-protect worker pay with tariffs on imported goods
-stop businesses from bringing in cheap labor
-government national health care for all
-huge tax increases on the rich
-shift tax burden away from middle class

These goals are right from a Socialist Party platform.

So he will find fans in the poorer parts of the country like county fairs. His major demographic is the working poor and middle class that see "illegals" taking their jobs and lowering their pay. His secondary demographic are people fed up with government, and others that want progressive taxation that the Democrats promise but never deliver on.

The difference is simply that there are more members of this 'marginalized, uneducated, white underclass" than that are any other one group which are no better in their irrationality but all of which are placated and pandered too endlessly by our 'planter class' which in turn just reinforces the persecution complex of that former segment of the population. Identity politics is coming home to roost, we can't ever confront the real issues and the real enemies when they purposely divide us by race as a means of control. The legacy of slavery in this country lives strong but maybe not in ways people think about, think about the people who owned slaves during those times and think about the ruling class now. Power and centralization is the issue, self determination is a human right and if denied long enough it may cause an explosion.

Well, The Trumpet came, blared then left. Have to say I don't believe 97% of what spews forth out of that man's mouth. He's just saying it to get elected and it's working, so far. He's feeding the lowest of the Republican constituency but what he says doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. He is not going to start a trade war with Mexico, folks.
If you vote for him only because you believe he will do what he says he will, I feel sorry for you. That's gullible.

Although I did approve when Trump said he wasn't for starting WW iii over Syria and just let the Russians handle it.

I wouldn't let the Russians handle it-- Assad is their guy and ISIS popped up under his watch. It's more complicated than that, obviously, but the Russians have their fair share of blame in the ISIS emergence as the West does with it's involvement in the Middle East. I'm for a strong international coalition, say U.N. or NATO W/Russia and other Middle East countries, taking care of the situation. It has to be dealt with one way or another, just sweeping it under the rug isn't going to make it go away. It's beyond just a humanitarian matter, like the Syrian refugees, it's a global security concern and every modernized nation should be involved-- they're violently against progress plain and simple.

By the way, hope he was entertaining-- that's the only reason to go listen is to see how far he'll go with what he says. Obviously I disagree with the vast majority of things coming out of his mouth, but he does crack me up with his over the top statements-- that is his gig after all.

Let me clue you in on something: ALL politicians, especially on the campaign trail, are to be considered full of s**t. Anyone who votes based solely on thier campaign speeches and promises are basically stupid, regardless of political affiliation.

I still dont see Trump staying the course for the whole nine yards. He's just trolling the electorate to stir the pot and doing a better job of it than I would have expected. But when I look at how many people buy junk based on infomercials I guess I can't be too surprised.

The US and it's Middle Eastern "allies" are primarily responsible for the rise of ISIS, not Russia or Assad. The US and its allies started the civil war in Syria just as it we did in Libya and provided these friendly "rebels" all these weapons(this is what got our ambassador in Libya killed btw) and then those proud brave Iraqis we spent billions training and equipping decide to lay it all done at their feet and walk away. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was in US custody for 3 years before being released and becomes leader of this group we now know as Islamic State. Libya would be better off today with Gaddafi in charge than it is now, the same is true for Assad in Syria, far few people probably would of died if we never got involved in Iraq going back decades. Assad is fighting an all out war for survival against US/Turk/Arab backed Islamists, without him ISIS would conquer the entire country and extend it's borders to the Golan Heights and the Mediterranean Sea. Interventionism is what created this mess and its not what is going to fix this, we can only make things worse.

There wouldn't have been rebels in that country had the Assad family not ruled with an iron fist-- an iron fist the old Soviet Union, and now Russia propped up and supported.

Syria was a relatively tolerant and stable country before foreign powers started this insurrection, Assad was one of the few Middle Eastern leaders that protected Christians and other religious minorities. Hillary called him a "reformer" at one point even. The alternative is Islamic State, they want to massacre the infidels and to grow the caliphate. The problem with Syria is it's strategic location: The US, Arab Gulf, and Israel didn't like the prospect of Iraq linking up an oil pipeline with Iran and Syria which could of been fed down from Russia's Caucasus. Armenia and Azerbaijan is another simmering geopolitical pivot in this grand chess game. A lot of people die in this battle for global hegemony, the US should opt out and say no more.
