The thing about living in a small town is that everyone knows you and if you ever do anything wrong or embarrassing you can bet your cousin or your hairdresser or someone has witnessed it and already called your mum and everyone else they know (and these days, posted it on Facebook) before you get back home.
Everyone knows your business.

In fascist America, police rob me. Gaslighting is the social process of being scapegoated for being crazy, like someone owing me money, saying they know how I feel & finding excuses to pay me nothing.

By now a lot of people in my city know me. I'm obnoxiously popular by our standards actually.

Hmmm. It is an individual on the ASPD spectrum, ie narcissist/sociopath That if caught out or one upsets will go out their way to make sure everyone sees you in a bad light by making up stories that are not true in an attempt to divert questioning away from them and to get a form of pleasure out of seeing you hurting and questioning ones own sanity.

The term ''Gaslighting'' derives from an early 1938 play i believe.

Sadly my dad's not all there lately & that's most of what he's doing. :( I've had to tell him verbatim it's NOT OK to steal from family.

By now I have to just keep him away from me. :(

It's a royal pain, that is unless one is crazy among kindred spirits.
