Probably becuase their oil wealth doesn't stretch. The wealthiest oil states are the ones with small populations. They are too used to sports cars and stipends. If they want labour to abuse they import Filipinos and Bangladeshis.

Some states do take refugee, especially in the Levant. The problem is more long term, their status being kept in limbo for political reasons.

That's explained in the video in the first link (Levant countries aren't considered wealthy in any mean) , we took more than any country in the world for over 3 years......except we don't boast about it on the media like the Europeans

One thing that wasn't mentioned in the video though: He mentioned that some would prefer to go to more similar cultures than to go a country like Germany, but cultural gap is also huge between Gulf states and Levant countries, especially for the Christians/Druzes/Yazidis/Alawites and former Baath and socialists; personally I've never heard a Syrian refugee wishing to go to Saudi Arabia for instance, being in a camp in desert doesn't sound so appealing either.

None of the refugees actually want to be in Europe or the US.

They want to return home but it shouldn't be a matter of why, we should force the Arab states to take in refugees or we refuse their oil empire.

What woman in her right mind would immigrate to Saudi Arabia?
It's legal for men to kill their spouses and daughters there. They tie concrete blocks to women's feet and drop them in their swimming pools.
Women are better off staying in Syria and hoping a bomb doesn't fall on them.

But the ISIS-controlled areas of Syria aren't better for women than Saudi Arabia.

Do you know that Saudi Arabia is now heading the UN Human Rights Council?

Oh, I'm not the only one that sees the irony in that? Well, they certainly know about human rights, as they violate them all the time.
I think the main reason that the Gulf States don't take in refugees is that they would destabilize those countries. It's far better from their point of view to destabilize the West.

Gulf States were always so ....obsessed to remain "pure-blood" racially and culturally, there's a strong of Arabian elitism among them - even though their labor is all foreigners they don't even allow standard immigration, they very rarely give a foreigner (even if he's Muslim and Arab-speaker) any citizenship no matter how long you live there.

So they probably see refugees as a threat to this policy for some reason because they are coming as families and they'll probably stay for too long.

For instance, the Saudi government does not recognize dual nationality; it doesn't even allow Saudis to marry non-Saudis (for men and women).

I have long argued that our species is dangerously insane, and if THAT is not case-in-point, what is?!

Because the Gulf countries haven't signed the international treaties about taking in refugees. And probably general selfishness.

Imagine if a "white" majority country had laws and attitudes like that in 2015(which they used to eg. Australia)...the entire world would s**t down their neck and rail constantly against them for Human Right Abuses.

The "West" DOES have innumerable hypocrisies to be sure, but they are not alone.

Some of them are too small (e.g., Qatar).

But is it possible that the Syrian refugees practice the "wrong" type of Islam? Saudi Arabia practices Wahhabi Islam, which is quite specific and goes against the grain of, say, the Shiite type of Islam.

Probably because many of those wealthy Arab states were directly responsible for this clusterf**k. I know Saudi Arabia is. The "west" knows this. And they don't what a bunch of people with a grudge camping right inside them.

Plus, they love to pretend that they have no poverty.

Oh, and as many others have mentioned, the stupid minor differences in religion thing.

No offense, but a lot of those states are just materialistically wealthy. Let's just leave it at that.

I saw an interview where they stated that "those muslims had a different culture and would not assimilate"...nice.

In the second link they claim they took in 2M but wasn't announced.
