I have what's usually called classic autism. It was diagnosed as severe level 1 when I was 2 years old, and up until about age 7, I pretty much displayed textbook severe nonverbal autism traits. By age 8, I started becoming slightly verbal (single one syllable words) and more responsive. Now I am considered level 2 moderate, leaning a little towards severe.

High Functioning Autism is only my secondary diagnosis, so I guess that makes my ASD mild?
My primary ND diagnosis is Sensory Processing Disorder, which I don't believe is "officially" on the PDD list yet.

My official diagnosis is ASD Level 1... I have Asperger's with some mild speech difficulties.

I was diagnosed after the DSM V came out so mine says HFA.

I was diagnosed with autism (which was only severe classical autism in the 1960s) when I was very young.

Subsequently, I was diagnosed with brain damage/injury.

I displayed classic autism symptoms before speech at age 5; Asperger's symptoms afterwards.

My symptom pattern is very Aspergian, as opposed to HFA.

I was diagnosed as ASD last year, also after DSM-5 was released. My diagnosis isn't any more specific than that, although unofficially they acknowledged that I would have been diagnosed as having Asperger's / HFA prior to the changes in the DSM.

I was diagnosed as HFA when I was 5. If I was diagnosed in more recent years, my Dx would be AS. Since the DSM-5 has done away with AS, I'd say HFA.

Aspergers but I have elements more associated with other types also.

I believe I am closer meeting to the Gillberg criteria for Aspergers then the DSM IV's. Gillberg's is closer to what Hans Asperger described.

Officially, my diagnosis is AS per DSM-IV. Now it's called ASD Level 1 but I haven't gotten my diagnosis updated. The disability support office at my school doesn't separate AS from ASD. My accommodation paper says Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Asperger's. Diagnosed when I was in my late 20's because it wasn't until I was an adult that autism was seen as a spectrum, and Asperger's was part of the high functioning end.
