I'm not. It's unfair, I have to wait until I'm older. But my brother can get a job when he's 14! I don't understand that... Can't Aspies have jobs or something?

Who told you you can't? I don't know what the rules are in Oz (which is sad because I'm actually an Australian citizen) but as far as US regulations there are laws against that type of discrimination.

you can have mine. you can get up at 5:30 AM and feed the cat and take a shower and drive to work by 7:00 AM and work till a half hour lunch at 11:30 then come home at 4:00 and wash clothes and cook dinner and do housework then go to sleep by 10:00 PM so you can get up at 5:30AM and do it again. Have at it, sweetie. its all happy, happy, joy, joy you know?

I strongly agree and I wish that I've made that move.

Jobs at a young age destroy you - I had a paper round (at one point an evening one and a morning one) when I was 13. Waking up every morning to be at the shop for 6 is not good for your health (and neither is carrying 2 satchels full of papers either).

Why don't you try a negotiation route. Say why you want a job, then come to a compromise - if she doesn't want you to get one will she reimmburse you a small amount to keep you away from work?

PS - I like the Seifer quote, maybe you should attribute it to him though

Maybe your parents don't think you are mature enough to handle a job yet. Try proving you are mature and responsible, maybe they will take notice and let you get this job you want.

I'm not mature though, and I never will be. And there's no job I want in particular.

So why do you want the job? To earn your own spending money?

Yep, and because mum won't get me drawing tools which I need. I want my own money to get these things I want, as mum won't get them for me. She thinks I'd spend money on video games, but I won't!!

The question is, are you sure you want a job yet? Sure, it's money, but there's not many job opportunities at 15-16. I'm gonna wait till I'm 18 to get a job.

Can you do jobs around the house for pocket money?
