I love this show.

It's good, if you haven't seen it people with various disabilities go on dates sorted out by specialised dating agencies to see if they can find love.

The episode last week had two autistic people on it.

It's on channel 4 in the uk.

Some people always say it's kind of exploiting or trying to make fun of disabled people, but I'm not seeing it, I really like the show.

I really like the show too. I think SLICE aired the last season here in Canada, I hope they air this season or I will just find it online somewhere to watch.

As soon as I saw the first young man I knew he had Asperger's; it was so obvious to me. I was watching comments on Twitter at the same time as I was watching the programmes and most of the comments about him from women were very negative...until it was revealed that he lived in a large country house with its own swimming pool. The women were much more positive then.

Not surprised there. Did you see all the comments about the other bloke, Tom I think it was, they were like he's fit I'd date him I don't care about his Tourettes and aspergers, some how I think they would.

I think the first one was called James, he seemed so ridiculously lovely. They both did, but I prefer James to Tom, not that toms bad or anything he seems lovely too.

At first I was confused by this title. In the US I don't think we have this show that attempts to pair people with disabilities.

However, we do have a sitcom (situation comedy) called Undateable. It's about a bunch of young(ish) single people who hang out at the same bar, and the social difficulties they have. It's mildly funny but I don't really have time for it.

Ive been watching it and think its a good show for people across the whole spectrum to think about.
When you consider what not being part of a social scene involves these days, then i think more interesting ways to get young people started enables better prospects for them later.
i'm pretty sure that people use the trem 'exploit' to hide what they feel about someone. I'm sure that expressing yourself confidently to someone shouldn't offend people who they know are just trying to get themselves noticed.
I felt Steve with Cruzons had a very appealing personality, so his wifes lucky and so is Daniel with his new GF.

You can't exploit two people in love though

I love this show. I think the makers handle things very sensitively -- there's no exploitation. I believe it's also good for society to SEE the various people the show follows, as it helps blast away the dark shadows and ignorance.

I loved Steve with Crouzon's; he's a wonderful guy and his new wife is a very wise and lucky woman.

I can't recall the name of the guy in the photo upthread but he too is a lovely person, and I hope they stick together. She is quite a bit more badly affected by her issues but he's so patient, I hope it sticks.

The young woman is Chloe and her man is Alex.
I think the time spent at the villa and in the fresh air suited them both, and personally speaking she gained some quite active independence from being with him too.

The Undateables: Autistic charmer Rhys wins date and viewers over with his honesty

Spoiler alert:

Quote:
This week we saw autistic James Bond fanatic Rhys looking for love – and we’re pretty sure he’s found it.
Welshman Rhys is set up with Sophia, a 26-year-old with Asperger’s who is currently studying nursing at Oxford University. And while he is intimidated by her before he even meets her (‘A peck on the cheek? Actually no, forget I said that.’), he actually wins Sophia over fairly quickly.

On their first date – a windy walk on the beach and tea overlooking the Welsh bay – Rhys tells a flustered Sophia that his feeling upon meeting her was like ‘exam nerves combined with meeting the most beautiful person you’ve seen in your life.’
Erm, can someone say that to us please?
But despite her initial reaction to the hyperbolic compliment – hysterical laughter – Sophia revealed she was keen on Rhys too. And, as it turns out, they had a lot in common: Sophia also loved James Bond, and revealed that her family member even worked on one of the films, sending Rhys into ultimate fanboy mode.
But the real thing that won Sophia over? Rhys’ unflinching, romantic honesty.

Richard Madeley stuns outraged Good Morning Britain viewers over autism questions to Undateables star

Quote:
Good Morning Britain viewers have moved to blast Richard Madeley.

The outrage was sparked by the GMB presenter on Friday.

Social media was awash with criticism for Madeley after the questions he posed to the mother of a man with autism.

The subject of conversation was meant to be about how Daniel Wakeford has a new album That's How I See It, which is why he went on the show alongside his mother to promote it.

Richard, replacing Piers Morgan on the ITV1 daytime favourite, demanded to know whether the star of the popular Channel 4 programme the Undateables, Daniel Wakeford, has always had the condition, The Mirror reports.

The demanding question asked by Richard to Daniels' mum was: "The thing with Daniel is, he has autism but is very intelligent and as we can see extremely talented.

"Has Daniel always been autistic?"

Looking shocked and taken aback, the mum replied: "Yes, well there is controversy about that.

"We realised around 18 months that there was a problem. He is on the autistic spectrum with a comprehensive speech disorder," she added.

While she handled the situation with professionalism, viewers couldn't believe their ears - with some even calling for Richard to face the sack over his comment.

I feel I am now in the politics section discussing SJW's but this is my take.

There is nothing wrong with Madely asking a question about Daniel Wakefield's autism since his autism is a key element in that show.

I believe the question was asked out of ignorance not malice towards autistic people so I do not believe he should be sacked.

Doesn't sound malicious. I think what he probably meant was "have you always known "
With autism people seem to think the diagnosis makes you autistic. Maybe just people round me but there was objection to me getting diagnosed becuase they didn't want me to be autistic.

I'd have laughed it off, obviously it would open it up to people discussing vaccines as a cause so it could have gone a lot worse for him!

The title of the show sounds sad, but the show itself sounds interesting.
