In general, a balance of activities tends to be a good thing I suppose, but I think I'm happiest when I'm allowed to pursue my rather circumscribed set of interests. I just wish I had more control over it, I don't like the feeling that I can't easily moderate my activities.
I had an obsession take over recently for three weeks. And the after effects (catching up, repairing mistakes or overlooked things that needed to be done) are not good and still ongoing. I'd never had that happen before. It is scary. But, I too, am happiest when focused on my special interests.

For me, extreme obsession interferes with daily life.

Obsession can be ongoing and not interfere.

Mike Nesmith? The Monkee?

I just read recently that the Monkees are doing a 50th anniversary tour. But actually it's only Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork. Davy Jones died... so what's up with Mike Nesmith? Why isn't he in on it?

I confess that the Monkees were doing their thing right about the time I was a tween, and I liked them as much as other kids did. But I was never obsessed. Isn't Mike Nesmith the one whose mother invented Liquid Paper?

Mike NEsmith, one and the same....Liquid paper heir

Laid the first foundation for what would become country rock

Wrote hits for other people including the Monkees as well as B sides. Some of my favorite music from the albums was from him (Tapioca Tundra, Writing Wrongs, Auntie's Municipal Court) or Dolenz (Randy Scouse Git/Alternative title, Shorty Blackwell) and their harmonies together were perfect vocally and pitch.

Produced (or was one of the producers) of Ken Burns "Civil War"...got into a legal battle and prevailed against PBS for some shenanigans

Produced Movies and TV Shows

Got first Video Grammy for the first full Music Video 'Album' (Elephant Parts) as well as developed and sold the concept of MTV

Busy, busy man. Did not know about the 50th anniversary. Now I will have to go look it up. But if like before, just too many schedule conflicts.

Turns out he does have business conflicts to commit to a tour.

And in a turn of what I find funny about life's way of throwing coincidences at you: The Monkees 50th will occur in the Asian year of the Monkey.

Mr. Nesmith was/is a big fan of Jimi Hendrix.
