its too bad crane flies don't actually eat mosquitoes.

there is much more of a reason to hate mosquitoes.

Ya I thought that nobody would know what a crane fly was. I only ever hear people call them mosquito eaters, weird because they don't even have mouths. I know that they are harmless, but their appearance terrifies me. One even flew in my mouth while I was sleeping. Mosquitoes suck too.

yes i think they are quite clumsy/unaware of flying into stuff. not to be trusted around one's gaping mouth.

i get the appearance fear-factor, though. you know house centipedes?

I hate those house centipedes too. They are pretty common where I live. They aren't as creepy looking as crane flies to me, but their bites hurt pretty bad.

aaaah you've been bitten by one?! 8O
i think its their legs and speed that gets me on first impressions. but comparing faces, the crane fly is way more creepy.

something interesting(?) about those centipedes that i've found out is they LOVE turpentine. if i leave uncovered turpentine sitting around they will crawl into it and die. my current house doesn't have so many of them but my last rental house must have had termites they were feasting on or something. it was a bit horrifying the first time, as i had left black paint soaked turpentine out for a week and when i went to dispose of it there were at least 8 black softened bodies.

In my garden there's a hanging basket with a strawberry creeper inside, noticed a few sneaky birds hovering around recently, seems it's began flowering early and some flowers are already going to seed to produce the fruit.

Cabbage roses in bloom, they smell like a rose should.Honeysuckle filling the air with perfume.Nothing on earth smells as fragrant as the combo of the two.If I could bottle the air,I'd be wealthy. No perfume can rival it.
Big flamboyant peonies and Iris going full tilt.Every shade of green in the woods.
Wood thrush singing from the canopy of leaves.

Decreased vampire activity due to longer sunnier days.

Typical American with a north-o-centric attitude. Our friends in New Zealand and Australia right now are busy hanging garlic everywhere.
