House Finches singing outside my window today.

(If you live in the northern hemisphere, feel free to post signs of Spring as they appear in your neighborhood.)

Cherry blossoms! :D There are more than a dozen types of cherry blossom trees here in Vancouver that blossom at various times throughout the Spring. Some of the early ones are already in full bloom. There are more than 40,000 of them spread throughout the city and they look amazing for 2-3 months or so every year. 8)

Here are some google results for Vancouver cherry blossoms:

The grass is greener and the red maple in the yard is budding. I'm allergic to both, so bah humbug.

The weather is starting to warm up, and it is constantly rainy. Only a matter of time before the tornadoes show up with little regard to EVERYTHING!

On the bright side, at least the bluebonnets will bloom.

Cherry blossoms are in bloom, crocuses are coming up and it's raining a lot and the temperatures are getting higher.

It's hot and sweaty outside and will be for the next 9 months.

Well... the days here are getting longer, and the frost is starting to come up from the ground, which my mother could tell by the enormous potholes and cracks in the pavement last week. I envy people who live where spring is actually *like* spring, with blossoms and birds returning from south and warmer weather. Where I live by the time it really feels like spring it's almost summer, although it's been pretty mild this year. But I don't envy people living where the summer is hotter.

Women on the California beaches start wearing bikinis instead of one-piece swimsuits.

I guess in B.C. people are wearing short sleeves and maybe even short pants now. I can't help but chuckle when non-Canadians assume we're plowing through 50 feet of snow all year round. But I think that's partly our own fault since every Canadian ad I see this time of year still takes place in the dead of winter and has hockey in it no matter what the ad is for. You know those ads where you can't really tell what it's for until the very end? The other day I saw one about an underprivileged boy who really wants to play hockey and then he's given a pair of skates and gets to play at the rink with some other boys and it was all heartwarming and junk ( ) .... and then they eat KFC.

Sheesh.

Daylight Savings Time.

No snow on the ground.

Raining instead of snow.

We tend to get westerlies around that time here. I think it's only really here, though. The mountains.

It's as sunny as winter, just not as cold (it's not cold here in winter anyway).

Um.

Snakes and lizards start to move around. You see geckos, goannas and snakes starting to come out from hibernation.

(Yes, I don't live in the Northern Hemisphere, but that's kinda prejudiced to us upside down people.)

I saw one of our mated pair Doves in a tree two days ago. We don't have stocked bird feeders so they were probably gone until recently.
