Quote:

Therefore I would like to put forward a film accusing Tribeca Film Festival of causing autism, given there's as much bloody evidence

I'm all for dialogue but it's a disgrace that this person is given a public stage to present his absurd theories. Some excerpts from Wikipedia: "children with autism were subjected to unnecessary invasive medical procedures such as colonoscopies and lumbar punctures" and "Wakefield's study and his claim that the MMR vaccine might cause autism led to a decline in vaccination rates in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland and a corresponding rise in measles and mumps, resulting in serious illness and deaths."

I equate this with giving Holocaust deniers a right to speak.

I'm all for free speech, but when it crosses a dangerous threshold like that, you should have zero platform to share your views. Wakefield is a terrible human being and I could careless when karma comes to bite him in the end.

Who the hell is funding this guy to carry on promoting his rubbish like this? I tried following a few links but couldn't find anything indicating where the money is coming from. One of the other reasons he was struck off by the GMC, besides gross unethical treatment of the research cohort, was that he had taken a huge sum of money from legal firms that were trying to cash in by drumming up support for group legal actions, so I would not be surprised if this is the case again.

Exposed: Andrew Wakefield and the MMR-autism fraud

Brian Deer's 'Specialist Journalist of the Year' award-winning investigation:

http://briandeer.com/mmr/lancet-summary.htm

Wakefield is a fraud and a liar. This brilliant investigation proved he fabricated 'findings', ignored evidence that proved he was wrong, was on the payroll of a solicitor looking to find any evidence for a speculative class action, developed his own vaccines which he hoped to sell after discrediting the MMR vaccines and make millions.

He should be in prison not at a bloody film festival!

Well, there is freedom of speech in the US, so Robert De Niro has the right to choose the movie for screening...

However - for the sake of fairness - it would be fitting if De Niro also included "documentaries" claiming that:

- HIV doesn't cause AIDS
- HIV can be treated with beetroot
- Germs do not cause infectious disease
- Smoking doesn't cause cancer
- Albino body parts bestow fortune and health when worn as an amulet

... what a schmuck...

I'm delighted the festival management have seen sense and denied this criminal the oxygen of publicity.

Well done Mr DeNiro for seeing this propaganda for what it is, and hopefully he can become an advocate for autism acceptance which in the long run will help all of us.
