Huh? Do you hate that one particular Borders or the chain as a whole?

My mom and I have only had one bad experience at Border's. While we were there, I couldn't find the book I was looking for so we were going to place an order for it at the front desk. Anyway, even though three employees were working there, they made us wait about ten minutes and yet they were still helping everyone else look for stuff around the store although we were there first. They're closing down that Border's location, but they're re-opening it inside Castleton Square Mall, since it's right across the street from it to begin with. They're also opening a large Book World at Washington Square Mall, too. There's going to be a lot of new books in town! :D

I like the Borders Rewards. You get some nice discounts with it, plus a free dessert on your birthday. :P

The jury's still out on those Seattle's Best cafes they've got now, though.

Borders is in the US too???

Here in the UK, they tend to have bigger stores than Waterstones, and so are more specialist.
The only other chain bookstore left is WH SMiths, and they don't have the range (Ottakers was bought by Waterstone)

Should you really hate a store because of shopstaff though - you don't go there too see the staff, you go to buy there books or read there books without paying!

I am more of a Barnes & Noble person myself.

Never had problems with Borders. If I had a bad experiance at one place, it doesn't mean all plaes are like that.

I will go wherever the books cost less. People annoy me, anyway, but books give me joy. If I can buy more books for less at a place that has nasty employees, then oh well...I wasn't expecting nice people, anyway.

That being said, I like Borders. I can find books there easier than I can at Barnes and Noble, plus the music selection at my Barnes and Noble doesn't hold water to the one at Borders---of course, there is a Virgin Records store next to Barnes and Noble that blows the music selection at Borders right out if the water.

What was so bad?

Barnes & Noble lets the orchestra I play with do some promotional stuff in their Murray, UT store. Because of that, it seems like I give more business to the whole chain than I used to.

FYI, Borders is changing their program at end of this month.
Instead of 5% of price of any & all purchases (which they let you spend at year's end), now you've got to spend a certain amount & then you get a certain amount, but you have to use it up within the following month. It's in increments that mean you could almost get another amount but not quite, like spending $97 won't get you any more than spending only $50, yet you don't get the reward for reaching $100 because you only spent $97. I'm displeased with it.
I'll still shop there, but less.
