Hi, I have just joined the site :)
I have always been socially awkward and felt like an alien, even in my own family (I cannot relate to my family at all) but it wasn't until last year when I became a postgrad student that something clicked and I began to start thinking, am I on the spectrum? I see traits in myself that others on the spectrum display. I am awaiting assessment, having filled in the questionnaires and family questionnaire. My RAADS score is 170, which seems pretty high.
Although I really struggle to make friends and maintain friendships I did hit it off with a really good guy and we got married. He is as NeuroTypical as you can get. Perhaps opposites attract? We have a daughter now and she is NT but I find it difficult relating to her, infact, she exhausts me :( I feel very guilty at not being the mother she needs. I'm hoping there are other parents on this site that understand what I mean.
Anyway that is a little about me, hoping to chat to some of you soon.

Good afternoon/morning or whenever it is in your location, Azaelia.

I have not been officially diagnosed with Asperger's but I exhibit many traits consistent with it and my sister suggested I could be. I always score higher than 32 on Asperger tests.

Like you, I only joined today.

Hello to both of you. I think you'll like this site.
I'm not a parent so I can't help you there but I believe that NT's have similar problems as parents.
I have never felt that I fit in anywhere, also including my family. It may be a common Aspie experience, after all if your family are all NT then I suppose some problems are inevitable. Not that it hurts any less.
Think it's great you found out you're as Aspie fairly young.
Look out for books and You Tube footage from Tony Attwood. He is a psychologist who is very well regarded in our world and worth a look/listen.
All the best.

Hi azaelia
My gf (who is probably more aspie than me) has an outspoken and outgoing daughter, and finds her quite exhausting. But she is at least quite into nerdy TV and films so they have a lot in common and get on well.

I also studied engineering in college, and i met my husband there. Not a parent right now, but perhaps within the next 5 years or so. New here as well. :D
