Does your family act like a clique? Like snubbing or excluding certain people, or setting each other up to compete for inclusion?

Families do have that tendency, I have found.

In my family of origin there was always enormous amounts of enmeshment plus the constant shifting of alliances. My role for a while was to try to facilitate some sort of unity or cooperation. Didn't go too good, b/c that wasn't what they needed emotionally due to some dysfunction. Once I moved out and spent some time away and got married, it became much easier to resist. Now I just sit back and let it play out without jumping in far enough to get swept up.

Yes, because some family members think of themselves as better than everyone else around them.
