I’m just wondering if those old electronic games that were popular in the 1980’s and early 1990’s were the first introduction to the world of video games for other people here too?

When I was 10 and 11 I had 4 games like that and I enjoyed playing them a lot. One was a the good old traditional racing game where you had 3 lanes and overtook other cars that you had to avoid. I think it was called Grand Prix Racer or something like that. I also had a similar game called Challenger where you again had 3 lanes, but here you flew a spaceship (?) that had to avoid boulders/asteroids coming towards it.
I also had a soccer and a tennis game of the same model as Challenger. I couldn’t find any pictures of similar games, but the other racing game looked very much like this one:

Some years later I also got a Baseball game.

So, does this make anyone else nostalgic? Did anyone else play these solitary games?

Nope, our introduction to video games was the Atari 2600.

We did end up with two Tiger handhelds, later. One was Pinball, and the other was Ninja Fighter.
My uncle had one for Burger Time, and I remember liking it a lot. Played it way before I played the real deal.

We also had stuff like a RadioShack Simon clone, and Lights Out, if that counts.

Would love to have a Game & Watch some day, I'm a pretty big fan of the collections, but they're either too expensive, or it's one of the early games I don't really care for (like Ball).

My 1st into was playing dunk hunt on the original Nintendo at my neighbors. I got a karate hand held game as a present but it was years after my parents gave me a Super Nintendo

I had to google those 2. I've played something similar to Simon as mini games on the DS, but I had no idea it was a handheld game of its own.
I too wish I could get my hands on some of the good old Game & Watch games, but they're awfully expensive.

I was just looking yesterday, you can get some of the Nintendo Mini Classics for decent prices, about $12-15 each.

Of course, one of my favorites, Fire, is a bit out of my price range... >_<

This is one of the great games from the early days of computers (and arcades):

Beware -- it's addicting!

Oh! I used to have this exact one, when I was 6 or 7 :o
Have spent countless hours on a "Brick game" handheld, which was basically a Tetris clone.
I'm quite interested to purchase one of those right now, but they are quite expensive (re-edited games sold as Nintendo Mini-classics key-hold, costs 20 EUR ) :(

We can play those games on a browser:

But this is less enthralling than playing on a real device.
