Getting to know each other, Dino-style
Thank you!
I've already adressed a major issue about my personality in a thread elsewhere on WP, and gotten so many supportive replies and understood that this trait is pretty common in ASD, so I'm starting to feel at home here!

What is your first name?[/i] Just call me Jo, it'll save us all a lot of embarassment. My name is unpronouncable to anyone outside of Scandinavia.

He knew exactly what it meant, because he translated it, "I spilled coffee on the ant eater"! I must say I'm curious about where and when that sentence was first spoken ... I keep imagining some unlucky taxidermist somewhere.

All righty then...let's give this a try. If it turns out badly, at my age, it won't really matter.
What is your first name? Earl
Age: 56
Location: West coast USA
Current perseverations: "I can't do this." (despite 37 years of continuous employment doing it successfully)
When did you discover AS? Late 1990s
Do you have other psych diagnoses? Major single event depression
Do you have a degree? No, unless you mean a degree of frustration.
Kids? 3 stepdaughters, 7 grandkids
Favorite music: Mostly 60s, but certain specific music with a strong beat / unusual key
Job? Senior electronic systems technician. I fix everything from flashlights to county-wide computerized radio dispatch center systems.
Relationship with significant other, past or present? Married 33 years, met in 1980.
Plans for the future? To live long and prosper. Got the second part down already, and well into the first part.
Anything else you feel is pertinent: My hobbies are photography, computers, writing, electronics, gardening, ham radio, and weather, but not necessarily in that order. I randomize it every time I post it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this sub-forum is more geared towards older adults rather than 21 year olds.

What is your first name? Mindy
Age: 35
Location: Long Beach, CA
Current perseverations: I am an avid reader. I love psychology books, science fiction, fantasy, and classics.
When did you discover AS? I was 24. I remember my husband at the time telling me that I didn't look people in the eye during one of our arguments. I told him that was ludicrous. Why would people look each other in the eye. About six months later I was reading a book a friend had given me (Asperger's Syndrome by Toni Attwood) to help me consider getting my son evaluated. By the end of the book my life took on new meaning and I went and got myself diagnosed as well.
Do you have other psych diagnoses? No
Do you have a degree? I have a BA in Psychology and a MS in Applied Developmental Psychology
Kids? Yes 3. Two are Aspies/ADHD and a daughter with scitzoaffective disorder
Favorite music, other than NIN P!nk, Rachael Platton, American Authors
Job? I work as a Research Analyst. Job politics suck. I tell them a procedure doesn't work, they won't listen, six months later it all goes to heck and back.
Relationship with significant other, past or present? I have been divorced 6 years now.
Plans for the future? I want to publish more of my writings. I was an avid writer when I was younger. Raising three kiddos with unique needs by myself zapped me. Now that they are getting older I want to focus on writing more.
Anything else you feel is pertinent: Star Trek is awesome!
What is your first name? I'm anonymous on here

Job? Full time research student
Relationship with significant other, past or present? Married to a dude
Plans for the future? Er... to work in a job I like, be healthy and happy?
