A skim of ice around the edge of the farm pond.

The Pleiades in the evening.

The winter gulls have taken up their daily residence at the shopping center parking lot. That's a sign that autumn is coming to a close.

Bare trees,crows at the bird feeder, and Orion.

The sun glistening through the trees
floating leaves of yellow, orange, rusty-red
bright blue skies, a cool crisp breeze
Autumn is my favorite season

Wood smoke in the air.

Snow is forecast for the weekend, and only the oaks are still holding their leaves, so this message is the official and traditional closing of this thread for the year. As long as we stay in orbit, it will come around again next fall.

Reluctance

The calendar still says August, but the nighthawks in the evening sky know that autumn is on the way.

Blackbirds are flocking.

It's cooler today.

Stumbling around in the dark to get home from a nice country walk because I'd forgotten that the nights are drawing in.

The blueberries and most of the wild raspberries are much over ripe. No more picking berries for this year.
