I've seen a lot of videos on youtube of very young kids naming off notes being played to them and it got me wondering... for those who frequent here who are blessed to have perfect pitch, did you know that you had it before you were exposed to any kind musical education? that is, was there something in your brain telling you that note was say, an A# before you were exposed to the concept of musical notes? And I mean that in an absolute literal sense.

Yes, you don't know it's called an A# or whatever but you can recognise notes distinctly before formal training. My first music teacher called it having "musical ears"; it also comes with an innate feeling for which notes would compliment the note you're hearing, or which notes would sound good next (which helps for composition and improvisation).
