People not understanding me!

I asked my mom why people in the past have taken a dislike to me and she said "I think sometimes they just don't understand you"

What might she have meant by that in more depth in your opinion?

She might have meant that they think that your intentions might be different than they actually are. It could also be that when you say things people might think that what you are saying has a different meaning behind it other than what you are trying to communicate.
