Anyone knows the very etymology of 'trump'?

mid-15c., "deceit, trickery," from Middle French tromperie (14c.), from tromper "to deceive," of uncertain origin. Spelling influenced by trump (v.). Meaning "showy but worthless finery" is first recorded c.1600.

Do note the date, which indicates he intentionally chose it after its creation... well, that or he doesn't read dictionaries, which would be plausible... but otherwise apt, non? (This also applying to everything nearby... a golden (just the colour) toilet can clearly only be called 'garish', a synonym of a word above... like, really, who cares about mixing gold (not actual, which I suppose translates to 'worthless' if it's just to 'deceive') with excrement...)

Donald's ancestry isn't French, but German. His grandfather was apparently one "Friedrich Drumpf", who arrived in America around 1880. Drumpf changed his name to "Frederick Trump" in the US. Americanizing names was extremely common among Gilded Age immigrants, they wanted to be seen as "real Americans" and thus chose "American sounding" names. Anybody remember Janet Reno, Bill Clinton's attorney general? Her ancestors came from the Netherlands and were named Rasmussen. The patriarch wanted an "American name", so he perused a map of the US and renamed his family after the city of Reno, Nevada. Ironically, "Reno" is derived from French "Renault". The city was named after Jesse Reno, who died in the Civil War and who was a friend of railroad baron Charles Crocker. Reno's family was from France. Anyway, the "pf" in "Drumpf" indicates roots in south Germany or Switzerland. It's unlikely that Drumpf realized the meaning of "Trump".

Donald Trump/John Miller/John Barron.

Where were National Enquirer headlines?
"Trump's DNA found to exist in duplicate in completely unrelated people!! !!"

Fred Trump's middle name was Christ, apparently (for real).

Donald:

It may be that Trump is descended from a longer line of narcissists, who may have reproduced this characteristic in each generation for at least the past four generations.

Another thing to ponder is that Fred Christ Trump was a KKK member and it seems unlikely he would lend money to "the least racist person" that DT claims himself to be. Racist fathers would tend to cut off those offspring who repudiated ideology of that kind, just as DT cut off a sick child relative who "didn't respect him", saying "what else could I do folks?" Did DT enforce a no blacks policy in his rental properties as alleged? The evidence suggests he did. Apples, trees and not rolling far comes to mind again.

Trump's old man had refused to rent to blacks and Latinos, a policy Donald had continued till the feds put a stop to that with him and other apartment owners. Singer Woody Guthrie, who had rented from "old man Trump," had written and sang a song about that evil old bastard's housing discrimination.

The Drumpfs had unfortunately come from the Kraichgau/Kurpfalz region of southwest Germany, which today is in northwestern Baden-Wurttemberg; the same place in fact where my dad's people had come from. God, wouldn't it be terrible if I'm somehow related?!?!?! :pale:

You'd have to start claiming you were Swedish instead

Oh, thank God! I was mistaken; the Drumpfs came from the other side of the Rhine.

Nah, too much pride in my German roots. Plus, I already can claim to be part Swedish.
