there's something about browns, especially deep, rich organic browns, on car interiors and supplemented with wood trim...that just makes me wet.

car interiors nowadays are so BOOORRIIINNNGGG with their flat grays and charcoal/blacks. no more colorfulness and woodgrain unless it's a Lexus or Mercedes or such.

right?

this is the new, top of the line lincoln navigator:

Image

what are those whites and greys even supposed to be? leather? doubt it. whatever it is, it's shockingly bland compared to what they were making in the early 90s/late 80s.

the 2018 lexus ls500 looks a lot better to me, but YMMV of course.

Image

yet, gone seemingly are the days of bright, eye catching interiors (1992 chevy lumina van)

Image

i would die to get my hands on one of these, before they all become rustbuckets (1990 to 1994 ls400)

^^^I rode in one [90s Lexus LS-400], and aside from the bullet-train-esque acceleration, it was not appreciably quieter or smoother than a 2000-2004 Toyota Avalon, which had it beat on roominess btw. an E-class Mercedes, OTOH, beat the pants off of both in nearly every respect ['cept for room, the Avalon was the roomiest sedan i'd been in short of a Cadillac]. nothing filters out road rash better than a Mercedes, especially the S-class with its Citroen-sourced air suspension. anyways, back to the colors, this is some of what I mean by colorful interiors in older cars-

both '93 chevy lumina base sedans, they rode like a Cadillac because they used the same basic chassis and suspension. never was able to get them back in the day 'cause the chevy dealers then and now are @$$holes.

This is one thing I can never find an answer. It's almost like asking what the meaning of life is.
Every color is so precious

that dash looks "washed out" or pallid in a way to me.

i agree that "tans" and other shades of brown are desirable for interior decor.

my car has a woodgrain (veneer but at least real wood) embellishment in the dashboard, but i think they should have extended it to other regions of the dash

Yup even flat battleship gray. Maybe it's not as striking as -let's say- acid yellow but every color has its own story, therefore its own adjectives :)

Right now wearing a sweatpants in a similar tone. Do you really think it's a very strange color to wear?

well, it reminds me of institutional wear, like when I was in the army they made people wear that color exercise wear during PT. but if you like it then it is not strange. :flower:

My first favorite color used to be a bright orange, but now it is my second favorite color.

The color orange radiates warmth and happiness, combining the physical energy and stimulation of red with the cheerfulness of yellow.

Image

Now my first favorite color is bright magenta.

The color magenta is one of universal harmony and emotional balance. It is spiritual yet practical, encouraging common sense and a balanced outlook on life.
