For me, when I go to the dentist I keep my eyes closed and usually bring something in my pocket I can rub if I get really uncomfortable. Focusing on keeping my eyes closed often helps distract me from the bad feeling of getting my teeth cleaned and scraped. It also helps that I go to a kid's dentist, because their just naturally more gentle there. I go there because of my siblings. (They're all younger than me)

I go to an ordinary dentist. I have never been under general anaesthetic, and only local anaesthetic for a tooth-extraction procedure. I just bear it. I really hate it, though.

Also, you might want to use a more descriptive thread title, next time. :D
