Is it just me or do you tend to tune out those who nag?

For instance, if my Mother keeps calling me, even if it's for different things, eventually I may start to tune it out as "noise". Perhaps not at first, but maybe after doing the 5th thing for her, when she calls again (and she DOES have the annoying habit of asking you for your help merely two minutes after you left doing the previous thing and are about to start something you were focused on before she called you.)

I attempt to tune out anything that I consider to be repetitive, and I perceive many people to say the same things over and over again. And that can include nagging. Once I get the point, then I need to move on.

Yeah that happens to me if the nagging's been going on for at least a month nonstop. I can literally stop being able to process anything said by the person who was nagging me. I suppose it's a defense mechanism I've developed to keep from exploding at the person every time they talk to me (not that it always works).

I sometimes go unresponsive when it when it feels like someone is trying to argue or boss me around.
