What usually happens is a sharing of information freely and giving people the requested signposts to develop their self knowledge. How can giving feedback to a person about their ASD traits even be considered armchair diagnosing :?

In this thread (https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopi ... 0&start=15 ), one poster says, "Oh, you are definitely ASD of some sort". (I have posts in that thread too, and the OP did not come off as autistic/Aspie to me.) There are some people saying others are adefinitely autistic.

That person didn't even list anything about themselves except for their AQ score.

I linked to page 2 of that thread. Look on page 1.

Well that OP has already been diagnosed so it's impossible to armchair diagnose. We can only armchair undiagnose.

if OP is still here, i think she should know that i've brought this up with the rest of the mods quite a while ago, and there's a strong consensus saying that it's a ridiculous request to add this to the WP rules, and that kind of discourse shouldn't be something the staff are concerned with.

just for the sake of closure. :rambo:

There are several subreddits on Reddit that do not allow people to ask for a diagnoses.

Maybe because we're not medical professionals and we don't know them and there are overlaps with symptoms?

I'll start armchair undiagnosing!

1. He doesn't have a special interest, something that applies to only 10% of Aspies.

2. He loves loud noises. It's very hard to find an Aspie who likes loud noises. We even have a thread about it here: https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=335489

But there are diagnosed members saying they like loud music or loud trains or concerts. Did you just undiagnose them too?

It is impossible to diagnoses over the internet, I tend to assume if someone comes here or anywhere else inquiring about autism and if they maybe have it or not are just asking for outside input and seeing if others can relate to their experience not asking for a diagnoses.

Well, normally their AQ's are high, and they only have a few things that don't seem to fit the Asperger's profile. But with Savegraudation, it's combined with:

3. He said he scored 24 on the AQ test, and the cut-off for possible ASD is 26.

shrinks have "diagnosed" dead people and historical figures. have to wonder if the internet really is as big a barrier as centuries are.

Hey, hey, hey. Just because I have been so-called diagnosed by so-called professionals for a so-called psychological-condition of so-called Asperger's «Syndrome» (what a derogatory sounding word by the way) does not mean that I actually believe in the so-called industry. For all we know the whole ASD thing could be a fad.

They kept on repeating : «There's nothing wrong with you; but you have Asperger's Syndrome» (liek wut))
