The New Bedford Whaling Museum hosts an annual marathon reading of Herman Melville's Moby-Dick, and this year's reading begins this coming Saturday, January 7th, at 12 noon US Eastern time. Here's the announcement for all the associated events:

https://www.whalingmuseum.org/programs/ ... thon-2017/

And here's the schedule for the reading itself:

And best of all, you can livestream the whole thing right from the comfort of your computer anywhere in the world:

So join millions of people (ok, maybe thousands; certainly hundreds) and set sail on the Pequod for the voyage of a lifetime. Safe return guaranteed, and no coffin required.

Hmm. I'm not quite sure I can name that one.

You know what I like to do at noon, Ian? I like to sing.

The real New Bedford is in the middle of a blizzard today, but they still have a good in-person audience for the 21st Moby-Dick Marathon. It's being followed on Twitter, too:

Famous job-interview scene coming up in a moment, that might be instructive for aspies. You need to know how to answer if the interviewer asks, "Hast not been a pirate, hast thou?"
