I thought it was weird since I didn't think the Obama's were all that rich and that's a multimillion dollar home for sure, apparently they're going to be leasing it from former Clinton Press Secretary Joe Lockhart. Now I'm sure they will be wildly rich like the Clinton's before it is all said and over with.

I don't know. I've never done that job; I don't know what it's worth.

I'm certainly not against hard work being rewarded.

But-- I kinda feel like the leader of our country should know what it's like to be the people s/he governs, and should know that s/he is going to be one of those people again when his/her tenure as President is over.

That's not the life of anyone I know, or anyone that anyone I know knows, ad infinitum.

And we actually have it pretty easy, really.

i think he already had that before he started his journey to the presidency (and being illinois senator).

yeah, i do think state leaders should be able to relate to those they govern, still once you've been president it's probably impossible to go truly back to just average joe, especially mentally. people who've been his position would see things, think about and do things much differently than others, even if they do give up their material belongings and their income lowers.

Every ex-president keeps a secret-service detail for the rest of their life, I'm not sure I'd want armed security guards mingling among us commoners.
