The title sums it up, recently I had a moment when walking down the hallway in my house when I lost my sense of balance (although as the corridor isn't really wide, I stayed standing by just holding 1 hand against the wall), and I don't think I could see anything at all. It lasted maybe 10 seconds, perhaps 15? I've had moments like this before, although not this severe, usually only lasting about 5 seconds or so, and only not really seeing anything out of my peripheral vision.
It's only fairly infrequently I have these episodes, (i.e. less often than once a week, gaps between them can be many months long at most, or at worst maybe a week or two apart). Most of the time they occur when I'm standing, although I have had a couple when I've been sat down, and they've gone on for as long as I can recall. I'm not sure if my hearing is effected when this happens.

As far as I can remember I've never seen a doctor about it or spoken to anyone about it. (I really don't like sharing problems in person and going to the hospital). I just wanted to see if anyone else here has the same experience or a similar experience, and perhaps its some unusual side effect of autism/Asperger's, or if it is something more serious?

Any heart palpitations during these episodes?

I get these, mine are fainting spells, often happens when I haven't eaten enough, dehydrated, overly tired, stressed or within the grasp of severe pain. Happens when getting up to quickly, from laying down.

The doctor may want bloods done, though many fainting spells could be prevented, if there's no other symptoms.

Yeah getting up quickly sometimes causes it.

In response to the previous comment as well, I don't think I have any heart palpations in it.

Perhaps it's due to your blood-pressure dropping. BP can drop when you sit up too fast & the drop can cause problems with vision & loss of balance as well as dizziness & feeling lightheaded. There are treatments for it.
