I am searching for other parents of adult children who are dealing with similar issues. My son is 36 years old, living at home, and I am concerned about his future. I need to help him become more independent, if possible, but don't know where to start. I joined this forum because I have been unable to find any support group locally.

Welcome! You might want to try posting a similar question within the Parents' Discussion subforum ( viewforum.php?f=19 ). WP has many parents discussing these topics. I am surprised that you haven't found any support group for parents in your community. In my state, Utah, we have almost nothing but parents groups and autistic children groups. I wish I could trade a dozen of our parents' groups for just one adult autists' social/support group. In Utah, autistic children apparently vanish into thin air at age 21.

Good luck with finding other parents! :)
