So stuck in life and feel like I don't suit anything career wise. My long dream was to get into theatre and have gotten absolutely nowhere. College hasn't been me and the random courses choosen never clicked with me. I moved away last year for production training programme last year and had to leave because of money reasons. It was awful, had to go back to hometown and had zero money. Nobody helped.

Wanted to join a directing course, now I don't know if it's the wrong choice.

Still can't find work, back to living with family I don't click with.

Can't control my disability.

My passion is performing, outside, animals and want to travel. I do have an obsession with computers. I do love socialising.

Feel like the only aspie gonna be like this forever

Help me:(

Hi Smart, I can relate to you as I also love theatre and it can be difficult as it's a relatively niche industry; not to mention that alot of job searches for "theatre" come up with NHS opperating theatres. Fortunately I was able to do a couple of workplacements and even got to see Sir Ian Mckellen backstage.

Have you tried volunteering? It can feel rewarding and employers really value experience.

As for being the 'only aspie', after meeting several aspies IRL I've found that we can differ from eachother just as much as NTs do if not more so, it's really a matter of perspective.

Is the directing course at university?

i know how you feel. i'm 30 this year and i thought my life was going to be on track, but i've always gotten jobs in retail and working with people doesn't fit my personality and because of that, i stopped looking for work. i know i'm going to get a job at some store at the mall that i'm not going to enjoy because that's all i'm trained for.

i know what i want to do, but its one of those careers that you would need to get experience by taking courses, but honestly, i really don't want to go back to school and waste the time and money on spending how many years getting the experience that i could have gotten on my own if people would help get started.

The directing course is at a film school. It's only short but give me skills the progress further. I've also done courses at acting schools but never been able to get into the full time training because of my challenges. Don't want to waste my time and know I'm no good at it. Don't know what else I should be doing.

I've done some volunteering before in shops and looked for animal volunteering.

It's frustrating.:(

Your profession is like that. "Everyone" knows that there are so many people that want to act and direct that there are dozens of really talented people for every job opening, so that even people with degrees have to wait tables and hope for a lucky break. Its not like engineering where only a few people with a gift for it actually go through the process of backing it up with years of hard study in math and science and even more years of hand on experience actually making stuff work that matches theoretical expectations.

It's great that it's a dedicated film school! I've been to an acting school too but I quit as I'm a chronic non-dancer! I much prefer to stay using the camera rather than being infront of it.

I hope that you don't get worried, as it'll come one step at a time.

Thank you :)

That's cool, are you a film director?

I give it my all, to see were it takes me and if I like it, progress

You're welcome!

I've directed films before but that was either college/university or a bit of freelance stuff, I wouldn't call myself a 'film director' really :)

Yup that's exactly what you should do, the film school certainly sounds interesting. I don't know many aspies who say they like socialising but the ones I do I get along well with.
