I'm Not Diagnosing Trump, Just Saying

I think it's a little more scary if he doesn't have a mental illness...then he's quite aware and being vert strategic
There are two sort of people who are known to hardly ever show up at a therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists office. Sociopaths and narcissists.
Because they don't feel that anything is wrong with them, but anything going wrong in their lives they blame it on other people.
The distress of a narcissistic person usually is very low self-esteem.
But if they really believe in their grandios false-self enough all distress they might feel they blame onto the world around them, in their opinion there is nothing wrong with themselves.
Therefore the quote from Ezra surprises me that emeritus psychiatrist Allen Frances ignores that point.
It's not like a person with e.g. borderline suffering from herself, sociopaths and narcissists do function differently.

These are valid points...I lean toward undiagnosed narcissism

What's amusing is that Trump supporters think it's ok to have a leader who's clearly unstable, on the basis he can make money? so by their twisted logic he can boost the US economy?
There are plenty of crazy people I know off who are psycopaths such as Pablo Escobar or Kim Jong-Un who are as wealthy as Trump. Clearly making money doesn't equate to being a good leader.
I already knew what I'd find before searching for it.

There's plenty of others. Plus plenty of accusations of Obama being a narcissist, Obama being a dictator, being like Hitler etc. What's amusing is that Trump detractors think there's something new about these things being said about a president.

Hillary Clinton, a case-study in narcissism - Washington Times
This one 2015 NY Times article linked John Tyler, Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton, Lyndon Johnson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Richard Nixon with narcissism.
The Narcissist in Chief
Nixon is probably the most diagnosed former President. Paranoia is the most common one. Being WP we (me very much included) have linked Nixon with Autism.
Nixon...aspie?

There is one big difference between the accusation of fascism against Obama and the accusations of fascism against Trump: those against Obama were based on nearly nothing and superficial things like the "socialist" word in the socialist national party, those against Trump are based on deeper and meaningful things like the content of what he actually is saying been greatly similar to what peoples like Hitler were saying. Exclusive nationalism; manipulating peoples toward genocide since the dawn of humanity.

Fascism and comparisons to the Obama administration are legitimate. You had big cooperations working hand and hand and an expansion of the security state. What was missing was muscular nationalist language. In some respects Trump is building on what Obama did.

There are differences between fascism and a national security state, although the latter seems uncomfortably close to authoritarianism. I've never been unopposed to that, even when people rolled their eyes at the feasibility of Carnivore.
Also, I should be on record favoring transparency at every turn.
I'm not surprised that presidents lean more towards narcissism than average. But pathological narcissists don't say things like: that could have been me. Narcissists do lie flagrantly in pursuit of self-aggrandisement. Obama thought excessively highly of himself, in some sense, but Trump is incapable of thinking of anyone other than himself.

What, "America first"?
First off, that was a campaign slogan. Call me a skeptic but I'll need a few years before I'm convinced there's any real and lasting substance to it. However any President of the United States, past, present, and future, should be putting American first. Calling that a prelude to genocide is a bit paranoid.

Wow I'm really shocked that Nancy Pelosi of all people would say something like that - not.
Who's next, Chuck Schumer? Harry Reid?

I don't really talk about "America first", but rather the exclusion inherent in the discourse of Trump toward many population by suggesting that they are not "real americans" or outright traitors toward the nation. Peoples like muslims, illegal immigrants and even simply those who do not think like him.

Broadly speaking, you won't get very good results from coddling an aggressive, delusional person with reasonably high intelligence, like Trump and some of his supporters. You also won't be doing the supporters any favors by indulging in their guilt trips or by letting them set the terms of the debate.
I can't tell if the administration has contrived this persecution fantasy as a tool to manipulate public opinion, or if they really believe it, but my experience with such fantasies suggests that people defend them furiously.
