There's a very new hit only-in-Arabic app/site lately called "Saraha" (Honesty) - where you as a user accepts to expose self to social media contacts from Facebook or Twitter or Instagram (meaning real people who know you, friends, acquaintances, relatives, exes, coworkers....etc) in order to send you anonymously criticism/remark/praise/opinion about what they really think of you.

The app never reveals the identity of the message senders.

It got 13 millions active users so far.

/I still didn't dare to use it.

The app's first line description reads "Get constructive criticism confidentially from your co-workers and friends".

So what do you think of this devilish idea? Will it help people in getting constructive criticism; or will it increase depression and suicide rate :| ?

I thought Sahara meant desert or something like that.

I read it as Sahara too. I thought Boo was saying "Honestly" as in an eye roll, but the site is called honestly.

Depends on the kind of people you know. I can imagine people writing both good and bad things.

But do we really want to know... 8O

I think the idea is really unique.

Why didn't I think of it before? :wall: - duh.

That indicates that you Europeans quickly associate the word 'Arabic' to desert.

Probably has to do with the natural way our brains tend to predict things.

I would say this app will work so long as someone doesn't know you well enough. We can have unique ways in which we say things so while it is anonymous people may accidentally reveal themselves without knowing it. While unlikely, it is plausible I think.

The result?

Zero messages so far.

i have to wonder whether that would even work with languages that use different writing systems.

i imagine it doesn't work with japanese, nor hebrew as their orthographies are already quite opaque. and perhaps not with arabic, as their "letters" change form depending on their position in the word IIRC.

german? :jester:

I'll tell you exactly what you want to know and I don't need an app to do it.
