Paradoxically, I often ask myself "How can I ever learn anything when my mind is always blank?"

I am beginning to come to terms with the fact that I may, in part, be mentally impaired/ret*d (for those who do not believe it's an inflammatory and politically incorrect term)

Berabara, do you mean that you have trouble concentrating on one thing, or did you mean something else? Help me to understand with some more information please.

My mind is usually extremely active, though often thinking about things unrelated to the task at hand (My special interests).

If you want to use your brain more, you need to put more into your brain.
Watch a movie or read a book that you can get very interested in.
If you are very interested in something you will think about it.

I find my mind is pretty blank too. Especially in group settings; I just freeze up and consequently dissociate, if that makes sense.
