Advocacy, and activism for High-Functioning Autism (HFA) tends to focus on individual needs; that is needs too often disconnected from the overall needs of the (HFA) community.

An objective of (HFA) activism is to reconcile i.e., find "common ground" amongst individual, and general concerns in order to redefine, and boost services to better serve clientele with HFA.

We have to begin helping each other to elevate the entire AS community to a point of equality of diversity. We are not a "disorder" but rather the common NT addiction to socialization is a disorder.

Can professional services be "in the loop" regarding Asperger activism?

Since govt. funded services appear unable to be responsive to the needs of clientele with Aspergers, private-pay services are sometimes necessary to act as "third parties" to be present for those "tricky" transactions periodically a part of everyday life e.g., navigating the process/paperwork in the purchase of vehicles/cars, advisors for help in renting apartments, health & medical issues.

It's not always possible to enlist the support of trusted family, or friends. Yet, is it possible to keep private pay services affordable?

In short, in an ever-more complex world, even neurotypicals sometimes need to enlist the help of professional services.

To locate such services proves to be a tiring, elusive process. Consumer-related advocacy services seems to "fit the bill" - yet most of these services respond to problems e.g., consumer credit counseling. The objective is to enlist services to prevent problem situations i.e., proactive approaches.

The definitions of such services are; fiduciary services, advocacy, Independent Living Supports (ILS), trust management services, and even the term "a wingman." Anybody find trusted highly-rated (proactive) consumer-related services on Yelp.com? GOOOOD LUCK!

Any specific examples of professional services that have advised clientele with Aspergers?

Thank-you
