so... i am new to these boards, first dr's appt for possible AS in a couple of days, and feel like chatting to get my mind off things...

one of my children has been diagnosed with AS and one of the things my wife and i noticed through both educating ourselves (mainly my wife) and through observation is that certain foods can exacerbate his negative AS traits, such as obsessive activities...

these include over indulgence of milk and dairy products as well as carbs...

i skimmed through a couple of pages of this section and did not see anything regarding specific diet issues...

so... through self awareness or information gathered (solicited or not) from friends and family is there anything diet, nutrition, or anything for that matter that you have noticed that makes your more undesirable AS symptoms better or worse?

Observation Observation Observation
The best way forward.

Yes you can count me in:
just small things to numerous to mention.
So I stay off the dairy, carbs around 200 per day
+ what I burn off exercising regular and consistently.
Regular Exercise I find, (well for me personally) the best
for stability of mind and body.
Much less regarded as cranky.
All the best zac

thanks for the reply...

my wife is more of an unofficial expert regarding this... i'll try and write her/our/my thoughts down and be more organized regarding my approach to this...

while i believe there is no cure for ASD i absolutely believe it can be exacerbated and conversely controlled through diet and exercise...

"The mental benefits of aerobic exercise have a neurochemical basis. Exercise reduces levels of the body's stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body's natural painkillers and mood elevators."

Hi I agree with you and your Wife; and I think Harvard
put it into a nutshell.

AS I’ve been investigating this problem for almost 60 years.
I now understand a great deal, but they are big holes in my knowledge.
And I have just thought of one now, I just used the word “nutshell”
which I used in the term of a metaphor.
I tend to write in metaphor's always in a hurry.
Now the big question is, can other AS understand me easily this way?
If so, have I stumbled on another AS trait?
A sort of metaphor-tappers & shunter’s club.
