I'm getting with the technological and finally swapping my old ipod out for putting music on android phone.
I realized I have listened to that ipod ad nauseum for the past five years, and actually, only liked a few albums and never listened to the rest of the crap.
So, music overhaul. What is your overall favourite album and why? At the moment it's the Milk Carton Kids - Ash and Clay. I don't skip any tracks on this album, all quality.
What is essential listening on your ipods/MP3s/phones???

Oh man, I have way too many favorite albums to even pick a single all-time favorite. But if I were to name some that are definitely up there, I'd say the following:

Celldweller - End of an Empire
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
Haken - Affinity
Machine Head - Unto the Locust
Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone

I've recently become acquainted with Gregory Alan Isakov, and I've been listening to his album, entitled - That Sea, the Gambler. I quite like it, and you may, too, as it seems slightly similar in some ways, to the Milk Carton Kids (had a listen to the album you mentioned)

Steve Jablonsky's Transformers Score is amazing. I've been addicted to the song, "Arrival to Earth" since the first movie came out in 2007.

Other things I'm into quite heavily are soundtracks, but I have very odd tastes in music, and I'll listen to just about anything that doesn't scream obscenities at me. For crying out loud, I have some yodeling from Taylor Ware in my music list. Plus Hawaiian songs from Lilo and Stitch, Spanish songs from Enrique Iglesias, an Italian song, a German song, and pretty much anything in between. So, yeah, odd tastes in music. '_'

Charles Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

The second one might be an obvious choice, but these are two of the greatest albums ever made. The Mingus album was made during his obsession with Bach, and it's sort of halfway between bebop jazz and classical music.

Marillion - Clutching at Straws
Maximo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures
Prefab Sprout - Steven McQueen (or 2 Wheels Good depending on your location)
Del Amitri - Change Everything
Death Cab for Cutie - The Photo Album

Lots of differant stuff, but since you're mving from Apple to Android, spend the $7 or so for Neutron Music Player. It's the 'Audiophile' Music app, and supports all of the usual music formats, but also capable of 24 bit playback, and has a Parametric EQ as well, instead of a Graphic EQ.

I have found this entire album to be quite pleasant. Not sure you will like it, but, thought I'd mention it, in case you might...
