Why Budweiser of all the beers available?
That's just wrong.

What's the difference in taste between "craft" beers and regular beers?

1. Budweiser isn't that good of a beer by any standard
2. I gather you're not a beer drinker

I'm not a beer drinker.

But I heard that "craft" beers are good.

When I was 15, I had a swig of Budweiser. That turned me off to beer LOL

My first experience with beer was some kind of swill like PBR or Iron City and I hated it. I didnt give up on it and eventually found there are much better beers out there. I figure everyone loves beer whether they know it or not but just haven't found that favorite one yet.

I wonder how something like Guinness Stout compares to regular beer.

I've had Guinness Extra Stout both in the US and while over in Blighty. I don't care for it very much. It's very thick with a coarse flavor. I can't say for sure whether the extra stout we can get in the US and what they have over there is different because there was too much of a time gap between when I had it here and in England.
Call me a wuss but I prefer lagers and pilsners.

If I were to go to a Renaissance Faire one day, I might try mead. Mead is supposed to be really sweet.

A very medieval-type drink. Made you dance around the maypole.

THE difference between "regular beer" and microbrewery beer is that microbrewery beers are idiosyncratic, they all differ from each other, as much as they each differ from Bud. Bud on the other hand, is your regular mass produced and mass market American yellow swill (Bud, miller, etc, they all taste oretty much the same).

Guiness stout looks, and (somehow)taste darker, and heavier than 'regular' beer. A more interesting taste. But one is a meal in itsself. Dont drink it as much as used to (though I love it) because its too filling.

Prolly my favorite right now is Yuengling Black and Tan (a mix of dark stout and regular tan colored beer). Very smooth.

^ Yuengling Lager is my current at home beer. It really doesn't cost much more than Budweiser (a.k.a Buttwiper) and is actually a very decent beer IMHO. It's also the oldest brewery in the US and still family owned.

When I'm feeling spendy I buy something like Bitburger or Pilsner Urquell for the refrigerator.

I wonder if the word "spendy" is spreading throughout the country.

I always thought of it as a word used in the Pacific Northwest only.

Like "sliding pond," for a slide in a playground, which is only used in New York City.

Maybe it's an attempt to keep aliens away.

It's just wrong to have an IRA avatar and not like Guinness. It might even be a sin.Everybody knows it gives strength.lol
More of a cold weather drink..a cold pilsner or lager is definitely preferable on a hot day.

I imagine Budweiser are using this as a marketing ploy

Next they'll be having an advert at the superbowl with an alien drinking a slab of Budweiser in their spaceship while laughing at the rather curious messages on Voyager I and II

I find mead too sweet. It's not bad though.
