Post is here.

Seems an interesting little story, the sort of thing I would expect from Trump but is still an unsettling story. I'm just glad I'm in the UK and not in the USA. I feel sorry for you guys over there. Appears the news story was updated though in 2016.

It was my post from September 30 of last year. It was a then current news article.

Prior to that we discussed his statement during a 2015 debate that he thinks too many vaccines at once might cause autism, his endorsement from Bob Wright then CEO of Autism Speaks, that his spokeswomen during the primaries worked for Autism Speaks and Cure Autism Now

Since then we have posted about anti vaxxers meeting with Trump during the summer of 2016, Anti Vaxxer RFK Jr. saying he was named to head a commission looking into vaccines and the administration saying nothing was definite yet, Trump asking a special education teacher what she thought was going on with autism and saying the increase in autism was a "horrible thing"

I still honestly can't believe he got voted in. I can't believe he even won the Republican Nominees. Each day it seems like the news wishes for me to lose a little bit more of my hope in the future.

To me Trump is not the issue. He is what he is...

I am more interested in the hordes of disgruntled "conservative" Americans who voted him in. These same people are like Irish dancers dancing on the head of a pin to avoid publicly stepping on the proverbial landmines of Trumps blatant sins and what he actually represents which is regressive social, health, education and environmental policy and pumping money into big business and the military

To me this speaks volumes that the average American on the right wing hasn't really changed that much (on the inside) from the 1950s...their power has grown but their minds haven't evolved...

That's true, a large amount of america did vote for him after-all. I found an amusing reddit post of one guy who walked out with a sign saying "I was wrong" after he voted for trump.

It doesn't even surprise me. I already knew there was a lot of bad people out there that would do something like this even in our free country (maybe even especially)
It's sad that they had to go and prove me right though.

I personally "supported" Clinton. I think she is better than Trump, but would not have made a good president. I feel she represents some regressive ideas (so does Trump in my opinion).

[quote="LjSpike"]

He lost the popular vote by almost 3 million votes. But we have a system where electors vote to "balance" the power between the states. This gives the lower populated states that are mostly republican, like Wyoming and North Dakota, the same voting power as the highly populated democratic states like California and New York. That's the only reason Trump was able to maneuver his way in.

There is also the testimony from ex FBI officials that say the Russian involvement happened during the primaries as well. Another candidate Marco Rubio was hacked.

I myself am not a fan of the electoral college.

I guess it's slightly similar to our system in the UK, each local area votes in 1 seat to parliament, so parliament only represents the seats won, not the actual proportion of votes. (Not that I vote UKIP, but they're a prime example, only a small number of votes per area but lots of votes in total, I guess in this case it saved us :P)
