how often should you give out your number?

lets say you met someone in a coffee shop and you hit it off, you exchange numbers and you casually text back and forth, but nothing goes past that.

would it be a bad sign to give your number to every person you meet, in hopes that your create a friendship/relationship out of one/or all them or would giving it to someone when you see them more then a couple times at the coffee shop on your morning coffee run the better solution because you know the person is worth talking to outside of the coffee shop?

I'd only give my number to someone I was interested in. You don't want to end up disappointed, or worse with a stalker!
