NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/CBS San Francisco/CBS Chicago/AP) — Gilbert Baker, the man who created the iconic Rainbow Flag which became a symbol for LGBT rights, died Friday....

I met Gilbert Baker at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival during a small, private screening and party of the documentary film titled Key West: City of Colors (2004) ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0403198/ ) which described his creation and exhibition of the "World's Longest Gay Flag" in Key West, Fla., in 2003 ( http://www.nydailynews.com/news/history ... =1.2271573 ).

His sense of art combined with his sense of politics made him famous around the world, but his most disarming quality was his humor. He and I laughed and joked all night as if we had been friends forever. It was his rainbow-colored flags that inspired the Autistic Pride Day rainbow-colored infinity symbol. I will miss him.
