Since you admire the Dalai Lama you might find this interesting.
I have attended Chod ceremonies where it was used.I got to blow one just to see what it was like, not during the ceremony.Just to see.

^ that is indeed interesting.
Do you know whose bone the one you tried was made from?

Does sense of impending death count?
It's not an anxiety thing, just a constant awareness that seems to be accepted fact. I always find myself thinking I really have to get [whatever] done, asap, it has to be now and can't take delays - because I'll be dead soon, and I want to at least do [whatever] before I die.
But then again, I've been living on borrowed time for years now. Maybe it's just residual that.

Not the identity, but that it was from a young woman who most likely died during childbirth.
The small ceremonial drum,a Damaru was once made from skulls.Ive seen some older ones that were.Mine is newer, just plain old wood.

Here is Black Troma. She is usually adorned with skulls.

This is what I would like to happen to my remains after I die,but doubt it can happen here in the US.

^ yes, the sky burial makes sense.
I would like to be buried under a tree in the forest when I die, I doubt that will happen either.

I am sick and tired of living. You can have my empire of dirt and s**t. If I could start again a million miles away, I f*****g wouldn't. I know this should have been posted in a pointless life thread because my life is pointless.

I surely look forward to heaven, but only in due time. the woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

I wish death would come for me already.

one of the ways I keep myself going down here on earth, is gazing deeply at a Thomas Kinkaid calendar that a very nice fellow WPer sent me :D , which features IMHO pictures of heavenly scenes, I put myself in those pictures, exploring the landscape and "living" inside those pretty houses with the ethereal smoke wafting from the chimneys. I gaze at the misty heavens that the treetops disappear into, and go "AHHhhhhhh....." I tell myself that i'm in a place "with no earthly worries...."

Thomas Kinkade was an awesome artist. I love the glimpses into the world of his paintings. Looking at them is a good way to pass time and gain positive emotion.
