A few months ago I bought an old Windows XP laptop, partly out of curiosity as it was so cheap (£40) and also to play the odd game which won't install on Windows 7 or 8. It seems to be a 'MiNote 8615', a brand I've never heard of in any other connection. It also seems it may have been made by a Taiwanese company called Mitac, which I can find almost nothing about. The laptop seems quite well constructed, with chunky keys, and reminds me a bit of the Dell Latitude range. Apart from gaming though, it's not likely to be of much use for anything else - it's not safe to run the internet on XP these days, and even when I tried to do so via a Linux live usb stick, it was too slow to work properly, probably because it has only 500 MB RAM. Does anyone know anything about these MiNote machines, or the company which made them?

A Google search for 'mitac minote xp' returned a link to a similar model that can handle 1GB RAM, but I did not find anything for your model number.
