Most likely what was really said/meant by the doctor was some autistic improve on certain diets and he may have listed lentils as example of something that he recommended. The OPster or the TV reporter may have quote the doctor out of context.

As for as the science it seems to suggest a small percent of autisics may get some limited reduction in problems by following certain diets.
