Soundgarden Singer Chris Cornell’s Death Being Investigated As a Suicide

Quote:
A representative for the Detroit Police tells Variety that the death of Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell is being investigated as a suicide, although he emphasized that it is too early to make a definitive conclusion.

“At 12 a.m. [local time], we received a 911 call from the MGM Grand Casino Hotel,” Detroit Police director of media relations told Variety. “It appears as though a family friend was checking up on Cornell at his wife’s request. He went to hotel and discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police made the location with EMS, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At present our investigation is leaning toward the possibility of suicide, but we must wait for a medical report to determine the cause of death. At this time we cannot release too much information about what we observed in Cornell’s hotel room or what led us to this conclusion.”

Woody could not confirm media reports that Cornell had died of strangulation, although a different representative for the police told Variety that the singer was found with a “band” around his neck.

I liked his stuff in the 90s.

Evidence is pointing towards a strangle wank gone wrong, like Michael H from INXS.

RIP you grunge god.

(maybe not a god, he was alright though, and he is dead)

I am not gay but I did think he was handsome. I did fantasize about him a little bit. He had pretty eyes.

I feel bad for this troubled man who saw no other way out. I wonder if he ever sought help, or if he just suffered in silence.

Kind of ironic that this was my favorite Soundgarden song. Used to play it over and over in the car with some good memories. Won't be able to listen to it anymore. Very depressing. I saw them a couple times in concert. Loved them.

I was saddened when I heard the news. "Black Hole Sun" is one of my favorite songs ever, and I was listening to it in the car only about a week ago. It always sounded kind of depressing to me, and this just cements it.

According to his wife, Ativan may have been his undoing. Figures. Pills that are supposed to help us sometimes go against us. I've said it before and I'll say it again - psychiatrists don't have a clue about treating mental illness, especially in folks with several issues colliding in their brains at once.

"Here," they'll say, "try this." When that pill fails and you get a side effect, they say, "Okay. Try this pill." When that new one fails and just gives you a new side effect, they say, "Okay, try this new pill." And, again, there's the side effects.

What the f*ck? Either shrinks know what they're doing or not. IMHO, they don't know. They're just playing guess work. Hell, we may as well go to a shaman for mental health.

R.I.P. Brother Chris. Your passing has shocked me, too.

Although I found alt media claims to be compelling, about mass shooters being on psych meds, the shaman administers an SSRI, even to the point of hallucinations.

I was never a fan of Soundgarden but I did like Audioslave, his voice sounded best behind a Tom Morello guitar riff.
