Do you think your name has given you some of the characteristics that make you who you are?

Would be interesting to discuss it. I don't think people should post their names though for security reasons.

To an extent I think the name our parents give us has an impact on who we turn out to be. There are uncanny cases that prove it.

Vania Stambalova - Competed for Bulgaria in the hurdles in international events. Interestingly in one famous event she was the only competitor not to finish because she stumbled over!

Les McBurney - a Lieutenant for Sun Prairie Fire Department

Manley Power - Navy Admiral

Donald Popadick - Charged with indecent exposure

Christian Guy - an actual Christian guy. No surprises there

Faris P. Atchoo - Doctor

Dr. Docktor - Photographed on a sign in a doctors' surgery

Gregory and Timothy Weed - two teenagers arrested for cannabis possession

Brad Slaughter - Meat manager in a supermarket

Robin G. Mahfood - CEO of Food for the Poor charity

Jonathan Law - Lawyer

Scott Speed - NASCAR driver

Storm Elliot Field - Meteorologist

Laura Hamm - Deli manager

Mike Riggs - author of the book The Complete Rigger's Reference Handbook: A practical reference tool for the rigger and crane operator

Harry C. Beaver - Gynecologist. I'm not making it up!

Paul Paulos - Police sergeant for St. Paul police

Sue. H. Yue - Lawyer

There is a "Flood" plumbing company in the Washington DC area.

The most important head of state in 20th Century France was Charles De Gaul ( "of Gaul", Gaul being the ancient Roman name for what we now call France).

I changed my name several years ago. Everyone says my name is more me than the name I was given by my parents. So did I grow up destined to change my name to what I changed it to?

In school I once had a music / drama teacher named Mrs Louden.
I also legally changed my name. An insane amount of thought went into it, so in a way I named myself after my basic characteristic, not visa versa.
