Okay, this is for all you history buffs like me out there. Pick any monarch from any country from any time in history. And just for fun, add in any trivia and facts about the individual you post in that you want.

Anne, Queen of Great Britain

Sister of Mary II of England, daughter of James II of England. Anne's reign saw the Acts of Union, in which the kingdoms of England and Scotland united as a single sovereign state known as Great Britain. She continued to reign as Queen of Great Britain and Ireland until her death.

Brian Boru

High King of Ireland, 1002-1014 AD

Charles II of England

He was known as the 'Merry Monarch' because he was hedonistic, and because his rule was peaceful.

David II of Scotland

Reigned in the 14th century. The last male of the House of Bruce.

Emperor En'yu, 64th emperor of Japan

Chosen to succeed the Chrysanthemum throne over his elder brother. He had five Imperial consorts.

Frederick the Great

King of Prussia 1740-86, the longest reigning monarch of the Hohenzollern family.

George VI

King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth. Father of Elizabeth II. Was king during World War II. Had a stammer he never fully overcame.

Emperor Hanazono, 95th emperor of Japan.

He was abdicated from the throne and became a Zen Buddhist monk, raising his nephew who would grow up to become Emperor Kogon. Emperor Hanazono was skilled at creating waka (a type of poetry), and left behind a diary.

Ivan the Terrible

The first Czar of Russia. He transformed Russia from a medieval state into an empire, though at huge cost to its people.

John

King of England 1199-1216, the only monarch to have borne this name so far. Magna Carta was signed near the end of his reign, as a result of a dispute between him and his barons. His body was buried in Worcester Cathedral, and briefly exhumed in 1797. Kenneth III of Scotland

Kenneth III was killed in battle at Monzievaird in Strathearn by Malcolm II, his successor.

Louis XIV

Also know as the Sun King. His reign of 72 years and 110 days is the recorded longest of any monarch of a country in European history. In the age of absolutism in Europe, Louis XIV's France was the leading European power and fought Franco-Dutch War, the War of the League of Augsburg, and the War of the Spanish Succession.

Michael I

King of Romania 1927-30 and 1940-47 (when he was forced to abdicate by the Communist government). Still alive today, apparently, at the age of 95.

Olav V of Norway

Olav reigned as a "People's King," and became extremely popular.
