Dhammazedi

King of the Hanthawaddy Kingdom of Burma, 1471-92. By all accounts he was a wise, somewhat saintly ruler in the best Buddhist traditions.

During his reign the 'Great Bell of Dhammazedi' was made, the largest such item in the world, and placed in a pagoda, whence it was stolen in the early 17th century, then lost. Many attempts have been made to find it over the years.

Isaac I Komnenos--11th Century Byzantine Emperor

He was the first Komnenos Emperor. He was successful militarily and administratively. He got rid of many of the pensions of unproductive people, thereby enhancing the treasury. He died rather young, in 1061, at the age of either 53 or 54.

Napoleon III

Nephew of Napoleon I. He was the only President of the Second French Republic. Unable to run for another term, Napoleon III seized power in 1852, becoming Emperor in his own right. At the end of his reign, Napoleon fought against a unified Germany under Otto Van Bismarck and entered into the Franco-Prussian War without allies or effective forces. Napoleon's Empire was defeated in 1870.

Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor and German King

He seemed like one of those rulers who was consistently good, but was taken for granted. He, basically, united all the German tribes under his rule. He carried out many military campaigns---but his reign was marked by relative stability within. He was in constant conflict with the Papacy; this struggle between Emperor and the Papacy would continue for centuries.

Paul I of Greece

Ruled from 1947-64. Before becoming king, he spent two periods in exile during the 1920s and 1930s, owing to the turbulence of Greek politics and the successes of anti-monarchical factions, and took refuge in the UK during WW2. He was first cousin to Prince Philip, the consort of the present Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

Edited to correct the suggestion that our present monarch is Elizabeth I!

Quintillus, Roman Emperor

He was an obscure figure. He gained the Empire through murder. It's possible that he was murdered himself, circa AD 270.
