My 7 year old has always been a picky eater, but lately it's gotten worse. Now he refuses meals altogether. Today he is skipping breakfast and lunch. Who knows about dinner. His weight has been healthy to a little chubby. He enjoys sweets and will eat them day or night, like most kids. I'm not too worried yet because he's still a good weight and will eventually eat, but I worry about this long-term, and the situation escalating. Have any parents dealt with this and what was your solution/compromise/coping strategies? Have you talked to doctors or therapists? I might add that my son is high functioning. Sometimes he uses food for control, as in, he must decide what he eats, not anyone else. He did go on an awful self enforced diet once (age 4) and lost about 5 lbs. It was due to us moving. We ended up having to move back after 5 months because he wasn't doing well. This was before the diagnosis.
