Showcase sounds like put there for display purposes.

Contrary to what conservatives say today, racism is not a thing of the past, and it still needs to be fought.

I think it's inadvertently being kept alive.

It's not being inadvertently being kept alive. It's alive, because there are still people who hate "the other." To say that it's being kept alive by talking about it is actually meaning, just keep quiet about being stepped on.
Bill Maher said it: The new racism is denying racism still exists.

So when does it ever end?

Edit: I know, when conservatives no longer exist, right?

No of course not; there are many fair minded conservatives who hate racism.
As for when will it end? When there are no longer any humans.

But racism is mainly a problem because of white conservatives correct?

In the case of the industrialized west, where whites are the majority and have most of the power, and where conservatives are the bloc yearning for the "good old days," even if those good old days were plagued with racism and other forms of discrimination, then the answer is essentially, yes.

Humans are irredeemable? Do you view racism as an inherent trait or as a learned response?
Even as an agnostic, untrusting of my fellow man, I can see some glimmer of hope. In a distant future.

That is a rationalization. The Reagan years were nothing like that.

Ah so to avoid the chance of becoming allied with neo-nazis and the kkk, I should avoid becoming a conservative like the plague, correct?

We need conservatives. We need liberals. We don't need racism.

Woodrow Wilson, an idealist sort of liberal, was a racist.

And in order to become a wonderful person overflowing with love and acceptance of the downtrodden and a champion of humanity plus numerous other virtues, I need to embrace liberalism.

I think perhaps anyone who makes race an issue is racist.

An unintentionally-accurate answer, for how a Maoist struggle session ends.

It's an issue because it still exists. Anybody who doesn't believe racism exists is BLIND and DELUSIONAL. It stares you in the face.

Saying this, I don't believe in things like "affirmative action."

You even have racist liberals. And socially-liberal conservatives.

I've had bad encounters with liberals, good encounters with conservatives.

I don't see the surrealism, in having a white conservative, in favor of other white conservatives.

I find it strange, having a conservative Raelian or bronie. Being "out" and conservative is the contradiction.

In the Christian tradition, spokespeople are supposed to be irreproachable. Open homosexuality is a reproach to conservatism, if not liberalism. Trump ,Talbert, and the snowflakes all know this is an incursion, into a sort of safespace, actually, a sort of sexual violation. You are a party to it and don't want to be.

The question is how universally strong it is these days in governing western society.

It's not as strong as it used to be----but racism still has its impact. There isn't much "de jure" racism any more; but "de facto" racism still exists to a considerable extent, especially on the "grass roots" level.

"Minorities" have made great inroads since the 1960s--perhaps even more so in Europe than in the US. But racism still leaves its stamp---especially when it comes to where one lives.

In New York City, you have your "mixed" neighborhoods--but you also still have neighborhoods and schools which are still "enclaves" for people of one race or another, and who actively seek to keep out the other race.

If "the West" continues to lend credence to nationalists and reactionaries, and puts them at the seat of governments, racism will have more of an impact than it does at present.

Racism is a "learned trait." I've never known a racist under the age of about three years.

Without input from parents and others, children are "colorblind."
