From the few pictures that seem to be an actual picture of you guys I see myself. No, I don't mean an actual resemblance or even passing necessarily. But there's something that I can't shake that makes me feel like I'm looking at a relative. Weird stuff. I don't have a pic handy at the moment. But does anyone else have that notion?

Yes. There's something in the facial expression of a person that shows a way of seeing the world that defines the autistic spectrum better than any list of "symptoms" ever could.

My 7 year old son (who has AS) loves staring at people's photos and keeps saying 'they look very friendly' and 'I'm sure I've seen that person before.'

Actually when I compare photos of my son to people on this website I can relate to what you're saying.

A relative is not "literally" you but someone who shares more of your genetic material than the average person.

I agree! I always recognised 'my kind of people' even before I know about AS etc.

Yes. I cannot quantify why, but I feel related. And, in my family ancestry, there are many autistics, so I do see this. I am told Autistics/AS have a sort of "possessed, haunted" stare......again, just a perception, but nevertheless real. I see/feel/sense it.

This is probably why I thought Sedaka and I looked related in the "Post a Pic!" thread.... The only person I've really looked at is myself, and if there's a "disturbance" in how we all outwardly control our physical cues (i.e., facial expressions), we see that what we’re familiar with....
